Multipoint settlement gauges
The settlements represent one of the most significant quantities to keep under control for the knowledge of the soil-structure interaction during the various phases of construction and operation. The most suitable system able to provide useful information during the construction of a work is represented by the multipoint settlement gauges realized with high precision and stability pressure transducers. The operating principle of the system is based on the concept that a column of liquid exerts a certain pressure according to its height. Any variation in time of the height of the liquid represents the measure of the vertical displacement that one wants to control.
The instrument consists essentially of:
– a reference point for the settlement gauges
– one or more measurement points of settlement
– a hydraulic circuit consisting of a polyethylene pipe and hydraulic fittings
– the electric cable that allows the connection of the instrument to the reading unit
